N.Z. films in 17 festivals
PA Wellington National Film Unit productions were selected for exhibition at 17 international film festivals in the last year, and won five major awards, the annual report of the Tourist and Publicity Department, tabled in Parliament, said.
The main awards won were first prize in the Asian Broadcasting Union festival for young filmmakers, for ’“Landfall”; a diploma award at the Crakow International Festival in Poland, for ’-Children of the Mist”; a certificate of merit at the San Francisco International Festival, for ’‘Ralph Hotere”; first prize at the Rome Film Fair competition, for “The Unspoilt Land”; and third prize at the A.F.T.A. Festi-< val of Travel Films at Brisbane, for ’“There is a Place”. The unit was also asso' ciated with the production of “Winners and Losers”, which recently won a major prize at the Asian Young Filmmakers’- Festival in Iran.
