‘Soft’ price freeze

PA Wellington The Labour M.P. for Christchurch Central (Mr B. G. Barclay) said in Parliament on Tuesday that there had been 700 price rises since the price freeze started three weeks ago. Moyle (Lab., Mangere) said the Government was “soft” on prices; Mr C. R. Marshall (Lab., Wanganui) said that it had made only a token gesture; and Sir Basil Arthur (Lab., Timaru) flourished a bottle of rose-hip syrup which, he said, had doubled in price in three weeks.
