Sydney thrashes N.I. 54-8
PA Hastings The Sydney rugby league team yesterday thrashed North Island, 54-8, at Nelson Park, Hastings. The North Island got a lesson in hard running and tackling as the Sydneysiders scored 12 tries to none. The Sydney players had much more speed and ran on to the ball so fast that they were hard to stop. The North players when they ran with the ball had little speed and were stopped as soon as thev were tackled.
All North’s points came from four goals by the former All Black full-back, Joe Karam, but apart from his kicks at goal, he did not have a good day, being caught out of position and not having the pace to run down opposition players. The Sydney scrum half, Greg Cox. played a good game, serving his backs with clean, fast passes, scoring two tries, and kicking a penalty goal and eight conversions
