The boys are back
Entertainment scene
Odyssey are back, and out to kill the 14-year-oids again. Without mentioning a certain group, they are into platform boots and leathers now and will def it at a dance this Satura. 7 at Christchurch's Vinter Gardens.
"The last band (which | broke up a year ago) had. more of a camp image but) this time we re the boys,”i they say. "It’s a bit in the Kiss field but we’re also doing our own songs and groups like the Stones, Beatles,
Easybeats, AC/DC and Status Quo. All basically rock ’n’ roll.” "The kids love action,” Odyssey tell me. ‘‘Without an image music is boring from the public’s point of view. It’s like releasing an LP with nothing on the front or back cover. “Most of the bands sround now are playing funk and dope music, which is boring for the kids, so we want to introduce action again. There is nothing happening for the younger audiences so we want to give them something to look at as well as listen to. “We’ll do mostly stuff they know for a start, but
we have also got a couple of our own songs. It is the same Odyssey but with a new bass player: Ron (guitar), Jeff (drums), Dennis (bass) and Mike (vocals). Their music will be better this time, they promise. “It was good last time but a bit up and down. We are more stable now in ourselves and in our music.” After this Saturday’s dance they have school concerts around Christchurch lined up and the rest is open. They hope to have a -*5 — “Rock ’n’ Roll’s All Right” — which was recorded last year, released from Pye and follow it up with more singles.
