Tikumu’s letter

Dear Children. September is a happy month. The warm sun and the longer days stir animals and Howers alike. Leaves shoot on the trees, grasses grow, and dandelions push through the ground everywhere. In the country, lambs jump about and gay bidi-bidi spreads through the tussock.

Listen to the birds. They sing loudly and are joined by others who have spent the winter in faraway lands. Now they will all look for mates and build their nests. Little creatures are roused by the spring, too. The sleepy hedgehog wakes from his bed of leaves and the snail creeps out of his hiding place.. And one fine day, hundreds of ladybirds will flyout from beneath the bark of their tree home. It is dark in the green bush but spring calls here also. Birds and insects answer and creeping plants rise joyfully. The white scented clematis climbs through the trees, higher and higher, reaching to the blue sky. And there, on the topmost brandies, spreads out her starry Howers.
