Alcoholism study grant
A Christchurch psychologist has received a Neurological Foundation grant to continue his research on the impairment of skills in chronic alcoholics. Professor Robert Gregson of the department of sociology and psychology at the University of Canterbury, is examining the way in which patients are unable to retain or process information. He is also trying to determine what impairments are related to the patients capacity to recover, to profit from therapy, to retain or acquire work skills, and to be socially and economically selfsupporting.
Professor Gregson’s research is one of five projects selected by the foundation’s scientific advisory committee and approved by the national council to be completed during the present research term.
