Australian prices weaker
Share prices fell to lower levels on Australian markets yesterday with late sellingpressure, particularly among the miners. Poseidon stood out with a slump to 160 c, making a net 62c loss, which prompted a Sydney stock exchange inquiry. Pancontinental showed a 20c loss at 1390 c. Bougainville, CRA, MIM, Robe River, Western Mining and Woodside were others to fall. Utah was at its year-high of 460 c after a 3c rise, and Peko edged up 4c to 580 c. B.H.P. was unable to retain an early rise and closed unchanged at 898 c. CSR had a 4c loss, at 510 c. Woolworths, Amatil, CUB, Lend Lease, and ACT were also down. Small gains were seen in Myers, National Bank. Comalco, and ANZ. EZ Industries showed one of the best percentage gains at 395 c, up sc. Philip Morris improved 10c at 900 c.
