Two guilty of murder
PA Auckland I Two men were found guilty of t'he murder on April 14 of Sione Vatamaki Pola outside the Pioneer Tavern, Henderson, and were sentenced to life imprison- , ment. I After deliberating for six hours and a half in the I Supreme Court at Auckland. ■ the all-male jury • returned jits verdict. They found Faafetai Malivao, aged 22, a labourer, and Sale Lau; aged 21, a labourer, guilty of murder. Manu Afa’ake. aged 22, a labourer, was acquitted on the charge and Mr Justice Henry discharged him. The jury had heard that Malivao had slashed Mr Pola’s neck with a broken bottle and that Lau had knifed him in the chest. Both wounds had cut the! jugular vein and he had bled' to death. |
