Work begins on central city site
Workmen have begun preparing for the foundations of a ne wear-park and shopping mall on Gough, Gough, and Hamer’s old site in Cashel Street The cost of the complex was estimated in 1974 to be 84.1 M, the parking area costing 52.9 M. The ground floor will contain 14 shops and the six other floors will provide space for about 460 cars. A spokesman for the developer, Atkinson and Forbes, Ltd, said the work would be started on the Cashel Street frontage and would be done in stages. A walk-way will give access between the mall and Hereford Street.
