Glamour that spans the twentieth century is escorted by Mr F. D. Carl, whose wife, Betty Carl, was one of the organisers of a fashion parade to raise funds for the Zonta Club of Christchurch at the weekend. A lacy, cotton knit, three piece of sunraypleated, cape jacket and skirt, with a belted, “vest” top from the House of Usher, London (left) is after-five fashion for this summer. The cerise satin, hand-beaded number (right) is one of a collection of stunning dancing dresses bought in London and Paris by Mrs Acton-Adams of Tipapa, before World War I. Her daughter, Mrs Russell Hervey, Mayoress of Timaru, lent the dresses to the club for the parade.
