Australian killed in Rhodesia
NZPA Salisbury A young Australian man working for the Rhodesian Government has been killed by black nationalist guerrillas, an official communique has said.
James Harold Grierson, aged 22, a cadet with the paramilitary section of the Internal Affairs Department, was killed during a clash with black guerrillas in the Wankie area of north-west-ern Rhodesia, the communique said.
Two white Rhodesians and two Spanish hunters on a safari also have been slain recently in land-mine blasts in the region. The death of the Australian brings to 148 the number of Government forces killed in almost four years of war.
. The communique also said three more guerrillas had lost their lives in the latest clashes, bringing the death toll among the insurgents to 1453. More than half of them have been killed since the conflict intensified this year.
