Upsets in billiards
The surprise defeats of two of the leading teams in the latest round has created fresh interest, in the A grade billiards competition. Shirley 1, which looked to have the title within its grasp, was beaten for only the second time this season, by Woolston, and even more of an upset was Shirley Il’s victory over Riccarton. Both were 2-1 results and in each case the deciding game was won narrowly. The points now are:—Shirley I--37. Hornby 36. Riccarton 34, Kaiapoin 32. Woolston 31. Richmond I 23, Richmond II 19.
