INCREASED INTEREST RATES DEPRESS MARKET
The increase in short-term and long-term interest rates by Marac Holdings, Ltd, depressed share prices on quieter New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Atlas, Dominion Breweries. Feltex. N.Z. Breweries, and Watties all eased Ic. However, going against the trend. N.Z. Insurance rose 3c, N.Z. Steel 2c, and Fletcher. N.Z.M.C., and Winstone 1c each. The N.Z.U.C. index eased h. 75 points, and the number of issues traded fell from 134 on Friday to 95.
