Gardening award announced
The Canterbury Horticultural Society has announced a scholarship for work and study in Australia. The scholarship is named for the society’s late secretary. Mr P. C. Browne. It will commemorate the society’s 125th anniversary. The successful applicant will be given a round-trip airfare to Melbourne and $lOO for personal expenses. Work will be arranged to suit the awardee’s interest. “This is the first scholarship of this type in New Zealand for horticultural students,” said the society’s secretary (Mr J. C. Fraser). The scholarship will be awarded annually; Mr Fraser said the awardee would be required to file a progress report every two months, and a final report when the programme ends. Applications are available through the secretary, Canterbury Horticultural Society, P.O. Box 369, Christchurch.
