Gary Willetts said yesterday that he would like to ride the; veteran Battle Heights in spring; races in Australia The former New Zealand; jockey, who is now based in I Melbourne and getting top light-] weight rides from the big stables,| was unknown in Australia before his 1974 wins on Battle Heights. l Including a win in the Sydney Cup "Old Battle Heights can du anything on his da' He’s always! a chance.’* said Willetts. “I’ve I got a soft spot for him and I'd ! lo'e to ride him in the spring. He is like one of the family and I owe a lot to him.'’ Willetts gave up good rides, in Melbourne in the autumn to; ride Battle Heights in Sydney, and was rewarded with a fourth! in the Sydney Cup and a win in ) the Anzac Day Cup. He told a big Anzac Dav crowd! at Randw ick that “If it wasn't for this horse I wouldn't be where I am now,”
