Japanese offer scholarships
The Japanese Government!l offers two scholarships nextp year — one for an under-11 graduate student, the other I for a post-graduate student, i The former, with a tenure of five years, is mainly for students who intend to be- : come Japanese language i teachers. The latter is a research scholarship lasting either two years or 18 months. The undergraduate must be between the ages of 18' and 22 and have passed Uni-; versity Entrance by March.' I He will be expected to do a; preliminary one-year course; I in Japanese and then a four- ( | year course at. the Special j ■Department of Japanese! I Studies, upon completion of i ; which the degree of gakushii of literature will be con- ! ferred. All tuition will be in Japanese. He will have an allowance' of SNZ3OO, and free trans-H port to and from Japan, i Tuition fees will be waived. I
