Wire being imported
Galvanised fencing wire, which has been in short supply in recent months, is now being imported from Japan. A Wellington company which makes the wire has been unable to meet the local demand. Raw material supplies were interrupted and production was further delayed when plant broke down. Industrial trouble and the need to fill export orders added to the firm’s problems. The company will import wire until November, by then it hopes to be producing enough to supply local needs.
