Waimairi may lift price of bags
A retail price rise of 35 per i cent for paper rubbish bags lin Waimairi County has i been recommended by the I council’s finance and by-laws i committee. i The County Engineer (Mr A. J. W. Lamb) at a meeting ' of the committee on Monday evening, said that because of the increased cost of the bags, and the request for increased margins by retailers, it was proposed to [increase the retail price of [the bags to 23c each. The present price is 17c. The council has spent alimist $97,000 recently buying bags at the new price, and most of these have been delivered round the county as the free allocation of one bag a household a week. The recommendation is that the price increase apply to all bags bought from the council’s master distributor.
