Tooth may raise div.
NZPA Sydney An increase in the interim dividend is possible from Tooth and Company, Ltd, brewers, said the chairman (Mr G. J. Cullen) at the annual meeting. Profits for the June quarter were ahead of last year, and the group hoped to be in position by September to consider an increase in the payment. In reply to a shareholders’ question on the effects on Tooth of interstate competition, Mr Cullen said Tooth had insufficient cans. Industrial problems had disrupted production, and competition was quick to take advantage of the opportunities. “The directors believe that, as soon as the group increases capacity, it will regain its share of the market,” Mr Cullen said. “Action is currently being taken to broaden tne group’s product base, to include Wine, which will result in obtaining a greater and more profitable share of the market.” However, he stressed that nothing concrete had yet been decided.
