Report on M.P.s’ pay still secret

PA Wellington The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) would give no indication last week when the Higher Salaries Commission’s report on M.P.s’ salaries would be released for publication.

He told a press conference after the Government caucus meeting that no arrangements had been made for its release. Mr Muldoon consistently side-stepped any comment on whether he thought M.P.s should accept a nse known to be about 10 per cent. "I don’t know whether any of it should be made public, and T am not going to rush into public statements (on the report),” he said.

Mr Muldoon criticised some reports on die subject for not emphasising that the re view by the commission was for three years. He thought this omission could be a little misleading.
