Special correspondent Dunedin Show Gate's return to racing j has been delayed until the i Oamaru meeting on August 23. I Gordon Thomson, her Mosgiel I owner-trainer, decided against ! racing her at the Grand | National meeting after confirming yesterday that the Riccarton I track was heavy. He also kept I her travelling companion. Boy from Dundee, at home, though he can handle heavy ground. "She will start off in a mile at Oamaru providing she is not given an impossible weight.” said Thomson. “The track at Oamaru is usually good." It was at the corresponding Oamaru meeting in 1972 that Show Gate gained a memorable win as a three-year-old in her 'first public appearance.
