Daily mini-bus from Leithfield
A daily mini-bus service between Leithfield and 1 Christchurch is expected to be running by the enu of; next week. Mr M. J. Murray, an I accountant who lives at Leithfield Beach and works; in Christchurch was granted; a licence for the service if . May. He has converted his i long-wheel-base vehicle Imm petrol to diesel. The vehcile can carry >2 j people but the licence | specifies a maximum of 10. Mr Murray raid that he; already had six applications! for places in the bus and another five inquiries. He intends to pick up passengers from their Leithfield homes in the morning, drop them off at a central point in Christchurch and return them to their homes in (he evening. For this he will charge $1 each way. the price charged by the New Zealand Railways Road Service from Leithfield to Christchurch. The fare for the bus is
subject to Ministry of Transport approval. Once the ser-| vice is established Mr Mur- I ray intends to offer a 10-ride' concession fare at 90c each; way. Mr Murray will drive the bus and later hopes to; employ a regular passenger as a part-time driver.
