Conservation week begins
New Zealand’s conservationists will be out in force next week.
Activities have been planned throughout the country to mark Conservation Week, which will begin on Friday. The week has been organised by the National Conservation Week Campaign Committee, which is sponsored by the Nature Conservation Council. The committee will try to interest as many people as possible in nature conservation, and the emphasis will be on public participation in various projects.
In Christchurch, public walks, tree planting, seminars, and a litter survey have been organised. The activities are also aimed at local bodv participation. The week’s programme in Christchurch will be coordinated from the Environment Centre in Hereford Street.
