Search for typhoid carrier

PA Wellington Health Department officers have not yet found the source of last week’s fatal typhoid case at Hutt Hospital. A 40y ear-old Tokelauan woman died in the hospital after contracting the disease. Health Department officers have, for the last week, been attempting to find the contact from whom the woman contracted the disease. The Lower Hutt District Medical Officer of Health (Dr D. Ramsay) said that most of the people with whom the woman had been in contact had been traced, and had been checked for typhoid. Tests were being done on urine samples taken from the contacts. Dr Ramsay said no secondary cases had been reported.
