Brood mare award

Nancy Lee has won the 1976 brood mare of the year award made by the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Foaled in 1949. Nancy Lee is owned by Mr J. W. Brosnan, of Fernside. Three of her foals—Great Credit, Creditor and Dwayne—have taken twominute records in the United States as w'ell as being worth-while winners in New Zealand. As well, she is the dam of Automatic, Nancy Hanover, Guess Again, Marshal Hanover and Vanavara, all of which have time records. Nancy Lee, by U Scott from Night Beam, was highly regarded when trained by Cecil Devine. Unfortunately she broke a bone in a leg and was never raced. Nancy Lee comes from a family which has been a prolific producer of winners in recent years. These include Queen Ngaio, Waratah, Great Wonder, False Square, Lakeda, White Devon, Pancho Boy, Labour Day, Night Beam, Auditor, Great Dillon, Royal Cheval, Starbeam, Johnny Kirk, General Bachelor, Kenny Charles, Yankee Clipper and Palpitate, the last-named being a top performer in Australia.
