Direct hockey telecast?

Television One will consider a live telecast of Olympic Gaines hockey if New Zealand continues its winning way and gets into the final. A spokesman said yesterday it was difficult to arrange alternatives for the direct telecasts on the assumption that New Zealanders would be contesting the finals. ‘‘With the planned coverage of the 10.000-metres final yesterday there could have been sound problems because the satellite was also booked by Japan,” the spokesman said. “But we are not generally planning replacement events for direct, coverage because of the expense and prior booking required. However, if New Zealand reaches the finals in the hockey, we could well consider this, for a direct telecast.”
