Yachtsman ‘very able'
{NZPA Wellington! The New Zealand lone: yachtsman, Rodney Kendall,! in the 7.3 jm yacht, Songeur, has not been heard from after 48 days at sea in the “Observer” Atlantic single- ■ handed race, but Captain I John Mansell, the other New; Zealand competitor, believes there is no cause for alarm.. Captain Mansell sailed' Innovator of Mana into: twelfth place over-all ’on I handicap. He said in an in-! terview yesterday that Ken-| dall’s yacht was “extremelyl well equipped,” and that] Kendal] was a very capable I yachtsman.
. “With a boat of that size you could not really begin to get concerned before about 60 days. He has a radio, but it is not very powerful.” Captain Mansell, looking hronzed and fit. flew into Wellington to a warm welcome from his wife, Mary, and family.
