Profit of $9599 for Canty Park
A profit of $9599 is shown in the accounts to be presented at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club tomorrow. The club showed a loss of $6OlO for the previous year. The club was favoured with fine weather for all of its meetings and attendances were down only slightly over the previous season, says the report of the president, Mr S. Andrews. Record on and off-course betting of $1,889,163 and $2,729,080 respectively were recorded. The club also had a record on-course turnover of $379,926 at New Year and a record off-course turnover of $611,631 at its winter meetjing. Stakes distributed rose to '5137,675 from $132,555.
Race - meeting expenses dropped to $46,627 from $48,448, while totalisator expenses rose to $41,596 from $38,538. The club’s contribution to Addington Raceway, Limited, rose to $47,794 from $38,416. while Trotting Conference levies rose to $11,842 from $9954. Totalisator receipts of $242,610, including $73,668 from the Totalisator Agency Board, formed the bulk of the club’s income. The figure from the previous year was $211,772. Gate receipts amounted to $28,866, compared with $30,515, while members’ subscriptions and entrance fees reached $20,052, compared with $12,493.
