Hit-and-run driver still not found

The elderly victim of a hit-and-run accident on Friday night was in a fairly comfortable condition in Princess Margaret Hospital last evening. Sam Lowe, a 77-year-old Chinese, suffered moderately serious head and arm injuries when he was struck by a car in Worcester Street.

The car. a green Mark II Ford Cortina, did not stop. Its driver had not been traced by last night in spite of extensive inquiries at the week-end. The Ministry of Trans-

port would like to hear from witnesses to the accident, a spokesman said. He said the car had received frontal damage, and part of its grille was missing. Mr Lowe was in the news in April this year when he was evicted from his shed in Eastern Terrace, Beckenham. The small wooden structure had been his home for 20 years. He later accepted an offer from Mrs Te Ao Tu Te Puke-Watson to live in a shed on her property in Rasen Place.
