Ferries to resume

Inter-island ferry sailings should be back to norma’ this afternoon. The services were stopped when cooks and stewards in Wellington and Lyttelton stopped work for 24 hours from noon yesterday. The Rangatira will sail from Wellington today at 8 p.m. It will turn around at Lvttelton on Friday and leave for Wellington at 9 a.m.

The Union company does not expect any major passenger or cargo buildup because of the stopwork.

The Wellington-Picton rail ferry service will resume at 2.20 p.m. today with sailings from either side. There is a small backlog of cars but these are expected to be moved in a few days.
