Situation: A strong west or southwest airstream flows over the Tasman and New Zealand. Cold fronts in this flow are expected to move rapidly north-east over the country, with periods of unsettled weather. Marlborough, Nelson: West or south-west winds, fresh and gusty at times; mainly fine, apart from showers in the western ranges of Nelson and a brief period of more general showers in the early afternoon; cool.
Buller, Westland: Cold southwesterlies; cloudy and cold with frequent showers; fair periods in the afternoon. Canterbury: Fresh to strong south-westerly winds; cold and showery, with snow about the ranges and foothills; winds tending westerly and the showers becoming confined to the ranges in the afternoon. Outlook: Marlborough and Nelson except the ranges, fine; elsewhere, changeable.
