Show Gate to resume

■Special Correspondent Dunedin Show Gate is to resume racing in the Winter Cup at Riccarton on August 7. Show Gate usually comes to hand quickly, but her owner and trainer, Gordon Thomson, had intended to give her a long preparation after 18 months in the paddock recovering from a cracked sesamoid.

She will have been in work nine weeks when she runs in the Winter Cup. She will be ridden by Chris Ramage, who - has an unbeaten record in seven rides on her, including the 'Canterbury Cup, Churchill |Stakes and the Stewards at the 1974 Cup meeting at Riccarton. She won the Stewards, and Churchill Stakes, the Great Easter Handicap and Waltham Handicap at Ricicarton the previous year.
