Selling pares gains

Share prices eased on Australian stock exchanges yesiterday as profit-taking took [the edge off gains achieved 'earlier this week. The decline was controlled, [with frequently-traded issues [losing no more than 5c to 8c ion average. A feature of the 1 decline was the evenness of [the slide throughout the dav [as trading progressed. 1 B.H.P. lost 6c to 826 c, and C.S.R., 2c at 536 c. The Bank of N.S.W. fell 4c, after trading 2c ahead for most of the day.

The easing of prices on the mining boards was led by Pancontinental, which fell 80c to 1440 c. Peko-Wallsend shed 12c to 574 c, while its ranger uranium partner. EX Industries, sold at 390 c. for a loss of 10c.

Among the base metal miners A.M. and S. eased 5c to 240 c. A similar amount

was lost by B.H. South and C.R.A. while Hamersley fell 10c to 240 c. Coals went against the trend, with A.A. Resources improving 2c to 114 c, and Thiess 3c to 245 c.
