Australia's Renee Geyer Band begin a New Zealand tour tomorrow with a concert for "Grunt Machine” in Wellington. They play i n Christchurch 'Theatre Royal) next Thursday.

Judging by the very boastful publicity material I've received on the lady she is either amazing or hype. They certainly- rave. The band's first album. "It’s a Man's Man's World”, won for Renee Australia's award for best female vocal performance in 1974. Another album, “Read to Deal,” followed and a new one, live and double, is to be released with the tour. It was recorded at the

Dallas Brooks Stadium in Melbourne. Renee, described as warm, shy, sincere and often misunderstood, is 23. She started singing in a Bondi late-night bar at 16 and worked her way through several bands before forming her own. It includes a New Zealander, Mai I.ogan (keyboards. formerly in Larry's Rebels and Chain), along with Barry Sullivan (bass, also from Chain), John Pugh (guitar) and Terry Gascoyne (drums). While they are touring New Zealand their manager, Ray Evans, is organising a new start for the band in the United States.
