l he largest single export order for New Zealand Mine has been made — 7000 gallons for British Columbia, Canada. The order has been secured by one of New Zealand's major producers, Corbans Wines, Ltd, which will send 3000 cases of medium sweet sherry and 500 cases of claret overseas. The company is already supplying the largest selling sherry in British Columbia in the face of 64 competing brands. It is also increasing its share of the Canadian market and is exporting to prov-

inces including Alberta, the Yukon, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Selling in Canada necessitates approved listings with liquor control authorities, as well as special labels and cartons. The company has also prepared appropriate posters, advertisements and brochures. Corbans Wines is enjoying growing success throughout Canada. The two most popular imports in Vancouver are medium sweet sherry and claret. Both Calgary and Edmonton favour sherry and liebestraum, while further

to the east, Winnipeg citizens tend to prefer claret and burgundy. Whitehorse, in the Yukon, and Regina, in Saskatchewan, provide an attractive market for liebestraum and burgundy. Corbans has been exporting wine to Canada since 1963 when a visit by Mr Alex Corban resulted in the first, relatively small shipment of sherry to Vancouver. Since then, the frequency of orders from Canada has steadily increased, and substantial quantities are being shipped every month.
