Average readings for air pollution in central Christchurch, taken by the Health Department at the Reserve Bank building for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m„ yesterday, were: Smoke: 35, low. Sulphur dioxide: 50, low.
Nitrogen oxides: 99, low. The figures for the inner suburban area for the same period were;
Smoke: 46, Medium. Sulphur dioxide: 24, low. Nitrogen oxides: 52, low. Readings are in micrograms per cubic metre. Levels are: Smoke: less than 40, low; more than 120, high. Sulphur dioxide: less than 60. low: more than 200, high. Nitrogen oxides; less than 100, low; more than 250 high.
