$3000 bull for south
Special correspondent Paknerston North. C. S. Stringer and Son, of Whitecliffs, paid $3OOO for the champion bull at the third annual Hawke’s Bay Angus sale. It came from Totara Hills stud, of Waipawa, and took the prize for the best individual animal. The top price of the sale was $3600. There was a buoyant market, with very free bidding, for an offering of exceptionilly good quality. The average for the 83 bulls sold was $1404, which was about 55
per cent up on last year when 80 were sold. x F. A. Elliott, of Blenheim, averaged $2200 for three selling from $2OOO to $2400 and D. W. J. Gould (Glenmark) sold two bulls at $l5OO and $5OO. D. K. Mackenzie, of Ealing, also had a sale at $1350. Mr Elliott received the third prize in the show class for the best three bulls.
Acting as agents Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd, of Blenheim, acquired a bull from Lopdell Brothers, of Napier for $lOOO.
