Wheelchair rape
A bail defaulter has been convicted in his absence of raping a paralysed woman confined to a wheelchair, the Associated Press reported. Judge Philip Romiti found the defaulter, Ignacio Salas, aged 28, guilty of raping the woman, who is 27, on July 19, 1975, in Lincoln Park. — Springfield, Illinois.

Mr Angus Ogilvy and his wife, Princess Alexandra, plan a two-month “away from it all” holiday in the wake of official criticism of his part in the affairs of the international trading company, Lonrho. Mr Ogilvy, who resigned all his directorships after an official report last week, is said by friends to be “shattered.” — London.
