Commandant’s death

PA Wanganui The commandant of the New’ Zealand division of the Legion of Frontiersmen for nine years, Brigadier Allan Frederick Puklow'ski, died in Wanganui after a brief illness.

Brigadier Puklowski joined the Legion of Frontiersmen at Wanganui in 1949 and served as commanding officer of G Squadron there for 16 years. He was the chief staff officer of the New Zealand division for three years, and then was elected commandant, the top post in the legion.

Imperial headquarters in London promoted him to the rank of brigadier and decorated him with the Meritorious Service Medal.

Only three New Zealanders in the legion hold this decoration.
