Canterbury colt for Brisbane
The Brisbane trainer, Clive.C Davis, made a rushed trip to r Canterbury recently and completed the purchase of a c Greek God colt for one of v ,his clients. t i Mr Davis’s purchase for t Australia was a rising three- !■ vear-old half-brother to the v winner Senator Kennedy, and r a close relation of Totara Maid, a good winner from the f Washdyke stable of Maurice I Jones. v Mr Davis’s first buying trip C to New Zealand came from ( a chance meeting last autumn with Mr David Allin, proprietor of the Morwenstow Stud, at Kaiapoi. Mr Davis confesses his interest in buying New Zealand horses was heightened after he saw Balmerino win the Brisbane Cup. Mr Davis inspected several ither young horses at Morvenstow Stud, and said he hought there would be a iromising market in Queensand for some attractive oungsters in the medium ange of prices. One of the best winners or the Davis stable at Eagle ’arm has been Lavengro, i/hose victories included the Queensland Cup and Summer!
