Journalists stop work
i About 150 journalists from [the two Christchurch daily newspapers stopped work for [an hour and a half yesterday [to consider their award [negotiations, and possible (strike action. i The meeting was one of a [series being held throughout New Zealand this week to consider the negotiations and recommendations from the national council of the New Zealand Journalists’ Union. A strike ballot was held, and will be counted in Wellington at the week-end with votes from other centres. Other Canterbury meetings will be held in Ashburton and Timaru tomorrow.
