Competitors from 1001 schools will compete in the; Mount Cook Airlines Newp Zealand secondary schools’!
| cross-country championships at Hira. 15km from Nelson, | today. I Christchurch schools are
particularly well represented. Burnside High School and Shirley Boys’ High School are two expected to make strong challenges for the team title in the senior boys’ race. One of the main contenders for individual honours is expected to be S. Parsons (Shirley), who finished fourteenth last season.
Others likely to be prominent are C. Fallows (Wanganui College), who was fourth last season. S. Harte (Palmerston North Boys’ High School) and G. Dryden (Tau-ponui-a-tia College). The senior boys’ race will be held over 6km. The favourite for the senior girls’ race of 4km is S. King (Westlake Girls’ High School). who won the title last season.
