<N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 11. An extension to the scheme under which hand-made goods produced in the Pacific Islands are granted duty-free entry into New Zealand was announced today by the Minister of Customs (Mr Wilkinson). “The scheme recognises New Zealand’s close ties with the South Pacific, and is aimed at the encouragement of labour-intensive industries producing hand-made goods .of a traditional nature which find a ready market in New Zealand," Mr Wilkinson said.
The duty concessions have been extended to include Tuvalu and the Gilbert Islands, the British Solomon Islands, Pitcairn Island, and the New Hebrides.
