Crosland call on sanctions

The British Foreign Secretary (Mr Anthony Crosland) has urged the Japanese to do everything possible to tighten sanctions on Rhodesia, British sources have said. Mr Crosland, in talks with the Japanese Foreign Minister (Mr Kiichi Miyazawa) yesterday, also asked that the Japanese Government exert what pressure it could on South Africa on the race problem. Mr Miyazawa was very sympathetic. the sources said.

In Paris, President Valery Gisi ard d'Estaing told leaders from 20 African nations that world Powers must keep their hands off Africa. Speaking at the third summit gathering of French and African Governments Mr Giscard d’Estaing demanded that big Powers give Africa economic, financial. and technical help — and let Africans sort out their own political problems.
