Sing-along '76 to start early
Sing-along ’76 — this year’s sing-along sessions for senior citizens! will get under way on I Friday with a special 1 Anzac Day programme, I Mr Ray Lewis, who is organising the sing-alongs, | said Friday’s programme would include all the songs that were popular during the wars. The “team” who gave up their time to run the sessions would be dressed in! uniforms supplied by the Army. The sing-alongs are held in the Caledonian Hall in; Kilmore Street but Mr Lewis; stressed that entry was not restricted to senior citizens. I “We get quite a few people bringing their grand-!
children along and even; some young people who! come to hear the kind of! music their parents used to listen to,” he said. Last year 20 sessions were held end Mr Lewis said the average attendance was 400. “So many people have been asking us when we were going to start the singalongs up again that we have decided to start earlier this year.”
One of the highlights of last year's programme was a senior citizens talent quest.; Mr Lewis said something l similar will be held this| year. The sing-alongs will be held fortnightly starting at 1.30 p m and there is an ad-; mission charge of 50 cents.' This includes the cost of afternoon tea.
