Sea angler missing

(N.Z. Press Association) KAITAIA, April 18. In spite of an air and land search nothing has been seen of Hohepa Kauwhata, aged 37, of Kaikohe, since he set out in an Bft aluminium dinghy from Spirits Bay on Saturday. Little hope is held for his survival. Winds reaching 40 knots and huge seas are preventing a sea search, but 30 policemen and civilians are patrolling the beaches and the cliffs. Mr Kauwhata was camping at Spirits Bay and rowed out to recover fishing gear at Hooper Point. He had no emergency - equipment. A search and rescue headquarters has been set up at Kaitaia and a forward base at Te Paki Farm Park, which borders Spirits Bay.
