Record entries have been received for the Mackenzie Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s sev-enty-eighth annual show, to be held at Fairlie today. They total 3976, compared) with 3851 last year. The entry of light horses! is a record at 307, and there! lis also a record number of; entries in the pony classes. I As a reminder of earlier j days, there are 25 entries of ] Clydesdale horses. Harness' horses have been reintroduced this year. Drysdale sheep will bej seen at the show for the; first time. A feature of the wood) (chopping will be the Mack-) enzie championships. An Albury resident, Mr! W. H. Pilcher, has 144 en-j tries in the farm produce] and vegetable sections. There will be a display' featuring a comprehensive water and soil management scheme for the Waitaki River catchment. The Tussock Grasslands and Mountain Lands Institute will also ) depict a co-operative re-; search programme being ! carried out at Torlesse Stream, near the base of; Mount Torlesse. The New Zealand Army: will have a static display. I
