Twenty-six-year-old Wood-i ley stormed away from his! Australian rivals on his sharp Suzuki R-G 500 to win! by an easy 21see. A Sydney rider, Laurie Barnett, and a Queenslander,l John Warrian. came in behind! Woodley, both also riding Suzukis. Another New Zealander. ! Martyn Baylis, walked away I from his second crash in five idays after he had run into a safetv fence on his Ya'maha 350. ! Baylis went into the fence beside Queensland’s Greg ;Neal who was on a Suzuki 500. Neal, suffering from shock, was taken to Bathurst Hospital where he is being checked for possible broken ribs. Woodley later came in fourth in the unlimited grand prix which was halted with two laps to go because lof torrential in.
