Senator may be ‘fleeced’

A Michigan scientist has filed a SUS6m Jibe! suit against Senator William Proxmire, who presented him with a “Golden Fleece of the Month” award Each month the Democratic Senator presents the award to an individual or group he considers to be wasting taxpayers’ money. One year ago Mr Proxmire cited Dr Ronald Hutchinson of Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Senator said he had won a SUSSOO.OOO Federal grant to “determine under what conditions rats, monkey’s, and humans bite and crunch their jaws.” Dr Hutchinson’s suit claims Senator Proxmire’s remarks, broadcast on nationwide television, were “untrue. incomplete, and libellous,” and had harmed him professi on all y.
