All Amco squad sign
None of the members of the Canterbury rugby league Amco Cup squad have refused to sign the tour agreements as required by the code’s national council before their departure for Brisbane next Tuesday. Aspects of the agreement were outlined to the players by the chairman (Mr A. J. Atkinson) and secretarymanager (Mr D. G. Gaynor) of the Canterbury board of control. Mr Atkinson said that the intention of the forms was to discourage Australian talent scouts. Canterbury would not hold anyone seeking a transfer within New Zealand because of business or other justifiable reasons.
